Track Mission
Statements
Below you will find information on the various tracks which will present
educational breakout sessions at this year’s conference.
Actuarial & Finance
The Actuarial and Finance track will provide
education on current and emerging issues, and
provide ideas and techniques that enable actuaries
and finance professionals to shape emerging
practices in long-term care. The track will cover
thought provoking aspects from product
development, data analytics, pricing, projections,
valuation, investments, financial reporting,
required capital, inforce block management, risk
management, and strategy.
Claims & Underwriting
The track’s mission is to focus on mitigating risk
from both an Underwriting and Claims perspective.
We will highlight how technology is changing the
LTC platform to effectively manage identified risk,
gain operational efficiencies and improve the
customer experience. Sessions will provoke
discussion around emerging trends inclusive of
process and procedures across managing legacy
Long-Term Care, Short-Term Care and Combination
products.
Legal, Compliance & Regulatory
Long-term care insurance is among the most highly
regulated products in existence, and there is much
discussion taking place about whether the current
regulatory framework needs to change to support
the products of the future. Understanding the
evolving regulatory landscape is a critical function
for everyone in the industry. Complex legal issues
such as fraud and high stakes class action litigation
are on the rise and continue to pose significant
threat. This track examines the legal, regulatory
and compliance issues facing the industry and the
practices necessary to mitigate risk.
Marketing, Sales & Distribution
The Marketing, Sales, and Distribution track will
focus on how to foster long term sales growth
across all individual and group long-term care
funding solutions in light of current challenges and
opportunities. Topics will include sales success
stories, consumer insights, new strategies,
untapped market segments, and emerging issues
that will impact business development. Sessions
will feature an interdisciplinary perspective,
incorporating issues in underwriting, legal, and
compliance, as well as technology. The goal of the
track will be to cultivate thought-provoking
dialogue between participants and speakers from
which best practices and innovative new ideas can
be crowdsourced.
Management and Operations
The mission of the Management and Operations
track is to engage senior leaders in the Long Term
Care Insurance business and impart knowledge in
the areas of strategy, technology and management
fundamentals. Sessions are designed to appeal to
a broad group of leadership including operations,
legal, actuarial and finance.
Producer & Advisor
This track of workshops is dedicated to the Long
Term Care Insurance Producer/Financial Advisor.
Our objective is to offer practical insights to help
GROW YOUR BUSINESS. The workshops are
created for producers by producers and
practitioners with the goal of presenting ideas and
techniques that may be readily learned, integrated,
and immediately provide a wide range of solutions
in meeting the long term care needs of clients.
Public Policy and Alternative Finance Solutions
The Public Policy and Alternative Finance Solutions
track focuses on new and innovative financial
alternatives to traditional stand-alone long term
care (LTC) insurance in order to better address the
LTC risks and costs facing the American public. This
track explores the latest trends and insights in
politics, medical research, technology and
caregiving with the goals of fostering new
approaches to financing LTC and for reducing the
costs of LTC services. The track brings light to new
research and ideas from outside the traditional LTC
insurance environment including alliances between
the public and private sectors in seeking solutions
for the LTC risks facing society. Our goal is to
identify and explore new ways to lessen the costs
borne by federal and state governments by
expanding the potential for private funding to help
address the growing LTC funding crisis. Critical
emerging issues impacting LTC finance and
delivery, including new research, technologies and
health-related protocols of relevance to our
industry, also fall within the purview of the Public
Policy and Alternatives Solutions track.
