ILTCI Community Service 2014 The Executive Committee of the Intercompany Long Term Care Insurance Conference is happy to announce our Community Service project for 2014.  We will be supporting the Health Care Center for the Homeless in Orlando, Florida.  (www.hcch.org).  You might not associate homelessness in the vicinity of the “happiest place on Earth”  but the 2013 Report released by the Council on Homelessness cited a 29% increase in the homeless population in Orange County.  The mission of HCCH is to provide quality health care services that improve the lives of the homeless and medically indigent people of their community.  One area of focus is outreach in the purest sense of the word.  Outreach at HCCH is provided by a team of staff and volunteers working where the homeless live – on the streets and in the woods of Orange and Osceola Counties.  Known as the HOPE Team (Homeless Outreach Partnership Effort), their main goal is to connect clients in the camps with the health services that HCCH can provide for them and assist them in finding available housing.  Additional services the HOPE Team provides are transportation for medical appointments, obtaining identification cards and birth certificates; referrals for treatment programs and transitional housing; and assistance in accessing mainstream benefits.  The team includes Outreach Specialists, a Registered Nurse who can address immediate medical needs in the field and a Veterans Affairs Specialist, focused on helping homeless military veterans access benefits for which they are entitled. How can you help us support the Health Care Center for the Homeless?  By saving a little extra space in your suitcase or car to bring with you any of these needed supplies which are the basis of care packages that the HOPE Team assembles and delivers to the homeless.   We will have collection bins at the Rosen Centre to accept your donations.  You can learn more about the Health Care Center for the Homeless by visiting their website at www.hcch.org You can also check out HCCH on their YouTube channel, where they host all of their videos along with an organization overview.
