The USO makes sure that your donations go to those who need it the most: troops serving in combat, their families, our wounded warriors and their families and families of the fallen.Fort Carson has over 26,000 active duty military members and over 42,000 family members and is home to 13 units within the U.S. Army and the United States Air Force. The post also hosts units of the Army Reserve, Navy Reserve and the Colorado Army National Guard. The mission of the Army Community Service organization is to offer services which promote self-reliance, resiliency and stability during times of war and peace. Specifically, we will be targeting our support to the “Soldier and Family Assistance Center (SFAC).” SFAC provides support and resources to Warriors in Transition and their families. Soldiers that are in the process of preparing for return to or from active duty or transitioning out of the Army seek help with financial counseling, employment, education, benefits counseling, community programs and social services. This is where we can make a difference. Please plan to make a cash donation to help further the mission of the USO and the Army Community Service organization at Fort Carson. As an added incentive to donate, the ILTCi will match all donations up to $2,500 and all contributions will be shared between the two organizations. The organizations also ask that you please consider bringing donating a gift card in any denomination to help those make the lives of our servicemen and women in transition (and their families) easier and less stressful. For example:big box stores like Target, Walmart, K-Martgrocery store chains like Safeway or Save-A-Lotdollar stores like Dollar Tree or Family Dollargas stations like Shell or Conoco Lastly, you can save a little extra space in your suitcase or car to bring with you any of these needed supplies which are used to prepare family readiness bags.
